CURRICULUM

English

Literacy development is essential during the early stages of a child’s life and as such, it is embedded across the curriculum. This class is divided into four categories: Reading, Writing, Oral Communication, and Media Literacy. Language skills are critical for students to comprehend and analyze information, as well as express themselves clearly. As students read novels and various texts, they will develop an understanding of the world around them.

French

Being one of Canada’s official languages, we encourage students to learn and communicate with each other in French in order to be a complete member of the Canadian culture. Encouraging students to learn a second language can give them a competitive edge against others in the workforce, as well as appreciating the value of various cultures and languages worldwide. Students will be expected to read, write, listen and communicate in French in the classroom. Bilingual students will become open-minded while also improving their cognitive development simultaneously.

Health and Physical Education

ALIF Canada strives to promote the healthy development and growth of all students by giving them the resources needed to reach their full potential. We recognize that students need to be in good health in order to learn effectively which is why we will educate them on how to maintain a healthy, active life. We will provide students with a facility encouraging them to become physically active and fit. In addition, we will nurture students by promoting positive mental health in the school.

Math

Studying Mathematics equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to think critically and solve various problems. We have adopted the Ontario curriculum by dividing the class into five main categories including Data Management and Probability, Geometry and Spatial Sense, Measurement, Number Sense and Numeration, and Patterning and Algebra. We understand that not all students learn in the same way and time frame, so we have integrated various methods for specific lessons to ensure all students are on the same page.

Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Hifz Classes

In these classes, students will learn about the various practices in the Islamic religion and will be educated on the importance of Salaat. Students will learn how to read, write and communicate in Arabic from experienced and qualified teachers. In addition, ALIF Canada offers Hifz classes for those who are committed to memorizing the Qur’an in its entirety.

Science and Technology

Science tries to explain the physical world, so an important part of this class is to understand how scientific knowledge is generated and in what ways this knowledge can be used. Students will also learn about the relationship between science and technology and how it has influenced the world. There are four main categories of this class which includes understanding: Life Systems, Structures and Mechanisms, Matter and Energy, and lastly, Earth and Space Systems. Science has expanded our knowledge of the known universe and technology has changed the way we communicate with each other. After taking this class, students will be able to relate science and technology to society and the environment.

Social Studies

The aim of this class is to get students to recognize who they are, where they come from, and how they can contribute to their society. They will learn about diversity amongst communities and the relationship between the environment and humans. Students will discover what it means to become a responsible citizen and how they all belong to many communities that come together to form one global community.

Tarbiyah Program

In Arabic, Tarbiyah means development and growth and that is what we wish students to achieve from this class. We hope to develop all aspects of the students’ personality and behaviour by instilling in them the passion for respect and striving to be on the righteous path. Students will learn and develop Taqwa as they progress in the class and take on an active role in the betterment of society.

Visual Arts

Students will get the opportunity to release their creativity through various arts, crafts and design projects. They will learn about expressing their feelings and ideas through shapes and colours and using the right materials to build specific objects. Visual Arts education will help develop personal qualities in students as well as understanding art in a variety of contexts like cultural and historical. This class will help students enhance their observation and imagination abilities.

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR STUDENTS AND PARENTS.
  • I truly appreciate how ALIF CANADA has helped my 7 years old understand and read the Arabic letters and memorize short Surahs (up to Surah Al-Bayyinah). May Allah reward you for your sincere efforts and grant you more success Insha-Allah.
